More Thoughts on A Fresh
Look at Being Human
by Mystic Life
When I first wrote A Fresh Look at Being
Human, I was very focused upon the mind's ability to impact the body in a
positive way. I took this to the extreme of not exercising.
About a year and a half ago I read Deepak
Chopra's book, Ageless Body, Timeless Mind. I felt that it made a
compelling argument for the benefits of exercising, and have been doing some
form of exercise pretty much daily since then.
I have discovered that exercising (20
minutes of jogging, for example) helps get me "into my body" and
"out of my head". It has become what I would call a
"positive addiction" as I find myself compelled to exercise first
thing, every day. I've also found (after experimenting with a variety
of types of exercise) that it doesn't matter so much what I do as long as it's something
that keeps my interest (so I can stick with it).
Since "how to be" in this
world is an ongoing process of discovery, I thought I'd share this addendum. I believe the rest of what I
wrote in A Fresh Look at Being Human still resonates strongly, but my
thoughts on exercising have definitely changed since it was published.
